What is the purpose of a Logo?
April 24th, 2023
Our focus this week will be on the logo designs which reflect an old school feel to it with retro or rustic effects and styles such as old western and nostalgic to name a few.
As we say, old is gold and there are people who stay true to this saying when it comes to the designing of their logos. Hotels, media and publishing companies – there are many examples of business spheres, where vintage and old style logo designs are still in use today. Those companies that built their reputation for many dozens of years value their traditions and legacy too much to change their graphical symbols easily. Owing to that even today we still have many examples of classic vintage logo designs.
Designing logos with a history associated to a company and effects which reflect such look and feel requires a careful review of target audience and market. The circa 50’s and 60’s logos were famous with rectangular and circular elements complimenting the name with serif font styles. Similarly the retro look of brands such as Coke and Pepsi are still quite familiar which was the norm during those times.
This style of design gives a sense of quality workmanship and is often associated with hand crafted goods or services. The sample Above for Side Street Sutton is a good example to start as people adore many things in old vintage styles – cars, furniture, paintings, etc., not only because such things easily draw public attention thanks to their unusual and unique appearance, but also because all of them have already passed the test of time and proved their quality and authentic value. Old style logo design is often chosen to underline historical legacy and traditions of a company or a brand.
