What is the purpose of a Logo?
April 24th, 2023
There comes a time in every designer’s life where they doubt their skills. They are unsure about their potential and start facing a designer’s block. To design better, you need to clear your mind from any stress and start to embrace your creative thinking abilities. Here are a few tips to help you become motivated to design and bring out the hidden artist in yourself.
Observe Things
By observing things, we don’t mean staring at a wall for hours. Instead, connect with nature. Go out into the streets. Observe the people around you, they can be your inspiration. You can only create a great design once you open your mind to absorb things. Ideas come and go, it is up to you, that how you nurture them. A great way to overcome the designer’s block is to change your surroundings. For example, you can change the room you usually design in and go to a park or any other place.
Go with the First Idea
It mostly happens that we think about a great idea and then tosses it to the back of our minds. However, the first thought is usually a great one. So put your thoughts onto your screen or even paper. It is a great practice to draw your designs in a sketchbook, before using software to design them on screen. If it’s a logo you’re designing, think about the company’s nature of business and bring out the essence of what you think it should portray.
Take Reference
Subscribe to blogs from the design website you love. Or just browse through your favorite designer’s artwork; it will empower you to create better. When we are inspired by someone, we tend to act like them. So search for reference art which is similar to your project. Make notes on what ideas they have incorporated into their work. But remember that taking reference is not about copying. Create your own designs, once you take inspiration from something.
Don’t Take Too Many Opinions
We all tend to take someone’s advice when we are unclear about things. However, taking advice from too many people can turn into a disaster. Stick to just a few people whose opinion matters to you. Also, don’t be dependent on someone’s suggestion. At the end of the day, you are the one who will face the consequences. Stay true to your instinct and create magic with your designs.
Designing is a complex process which can even put the most talented people into doubt. We hope that you get motivated by the following tips and start to work through the problems you face as a designer.
