Website Designs

While you may think that the lowest part of a website is not important, think again. The footer is where most people scroll down to search for useful information. Therefore, it is an important location of the website and you need planning for its design. It should look organized and match with your overall theme without looking odd. Using space would ease the eye and make text readable. Here are some of the ways you can create a great footer.

Keep it simple

I’ll just start with saying that you don’t require any fancy elements, fonts or colors. The simpler your footer is, the better it would look. Let your footer make a statement but with its minimalism. There is a lot of information you need to fit in there, so it should look well arranged. Use subtle elements and keep space at the sides. Avoid any clutter and determine how much your footer size should be. Every link should be easy to click and don’t leave out any detail.

Grouping sorts information

Organize links and information in a nice sense of organization. You can create columns or rows to sort your information such as contact us pages, links, services section, social media and other sections from your most popular pages on the website. Categorize it all and place them under headings so that it is easier for the user to look for something. Some of the headings include Product, Company, Learn More and Connect with Us. Link your social media pages here.

Add Call To Action

When users scroll all the way down to the footer, give them something to do there. CTA or call to action is a prompt to take action of some kind. It could either be to sign up for a newsletter, fill a form to buy something, invite them to your social media channel or even get in touch with you through email or call. This is a highly important space as you can generate conversions from an attractive call to action button.

Contrast and readability

The text and elements on your footer are generally very small. Therefore, you need to decide the color, weight, and contrast between the text elements and the background space. Every word, no matter how small, should be readable. Make use of simple typefaces such as sans serifs with medium weights. Use a touch more leading than what you might normally use. Choose colors with high contrast, such as a light backdrop with a dark text or a dark backdrop with light text. One of the classic combos is white on black. Do not use ornate typefaces or varying colors.
